More and more people are booking their vacations and doing the research online and travel agents are seeing less people walking through their doors. Travel websites have become more sophisticated, enabling every part of your travel itinerary to be completed, irrespective of how complicated it is. While the internet does have its benefits and I admit to using it to look for vacations and learn more about where I want to visit, I still prefer to have a travel agent in person to sit in front of and actually book the vacation.

All you need to do is visit sites related to the location you're visiting and collect as much local information as you want plus I have an idea of the cost before I even visit my travel agent. I mean, what is the point of going along to your tour operator and then finding out your dream vacation is not within your budget. As every country has different laws, your travel representative can be helpful if you intent to travel to an international destination.

They can make recommendations of places that are particularly interesting, if there are any fees for entry into specific countries and laws relating to driving that can be easy to fall foul of. Whereas the internet is about saving money and convenience, your travel representative is there to ensure you trip is trouble free and that everything you need is organized. Don't get me wrong, the internet is great but it is not caring and it is always reassuring dealing with a real person. It is an unfortunate fact that you cannot complain to the internet but you can to your travel agent; it may take a very long time before the internet can supply that sort of service. It was when my husband and I were to be married that having a travel agent really proved to be of enormous help as she just made it all so simple.

The lady was very pleasant and couldn't be more helpful so after a half hour chat I had a good idea where the best place for weather on our wedding was as well as a range of other services we might need. She gave us some educated guesses about pricing without even checking anything officially and I asked tons of questions but she was incredibly patient with me. As she was so quick to get all this done we decided to book the wedding and honeymoon almost straight away. Travel agents work hard to get the holiday right but at least they are there to help if there are problems too.
